I've been hearing/seeing people using the word "protocol" lately as far as punishing people when they RDM and commit other offences. To my knowledge, we don't actually have an official protocol or guideline to follow written anywhere. Of course we haven't really needed it; we've been doing fine w/o one. But there has been some confusing situations, especially when there are no mods/admins on and it only leaves Respected & Trusted to deal with an issue. So I took upon the liberty to write what I believe the protocol is, and should be. Admins, don't take this as any sort of offense from me taking initiative in writing this, I am in no means attempting to dethrone any of you. I'm Just simply trying to help and clarify some confusion that happens in the game. If any of the stuff I wrote below seems incorrect or unjust, please tell me so with a reason. If this is approved, I do suggest that this should be somewhat promoted so more eyes can see it and follow the protocol. Perhaps added into !motd so more can see it.The following will consist of the types of offences along with which positions of power are available.
The 3 most common offences are: 1. RDM 2. Ghosting 3. Hacking
The positions of power are: 1. Admin/Mod/Mini-Mod (all able to force-ban) 2. Respected (force-kick and vote-ban) 3. Trusted/VIP (vote-kick) Below explains in a brief, yet thorough description on what exactly should happen to those who RDM, Ghost, or Hack alongside with which position of power is available and the type of player it is who did it.e.i. If Player A who is a NEW user RDMed Player B and the highest power available is a Respected then we proceed with ______. BUT if we have a Mod available, we proceed with ______ instead.
RDMAdmin/Mod/Mini-Mod:- If a REGULAR user RDMs an Innocent, then that results in ONE slay.- If a REGULAR user RDMs a Traitor, then that results in TWO slays.- The above also consists for a NEW user, but if they immediately leave without saying a word, it should only result in a perma-ban** They came here to RDM and they accomplished that. Why would they want to stay for a slay? Therefore we shouldn't be too welcoming to them in case they intended on coming back; perma-ban.Respected:- If a REGULAR user RDMs an Innocent, then that player should be expected to kill themself the next round by typing "kill" into the console. If they refuse to do so, a force-kick shall be issued as soon as the round begins. So then this way they are still free to join into the server but they still miss out on playing that round which was ultimately the point of of the punishment.- If a REGULAR user RDMs a Traitor, proceed with the previous statement above except do it TWICE.- If it is a NEW user, they cannot be expected to actually kill themself the following round. At which point, a force-kick should be issued against the user.* If they return and appear to have the same intentions as before, attempt to do a vote-ban on them. If successful, cheers. If not, then proceed to force-kick them in the beginning of every round so they never have the chance to RDM.*** Don't always rush to a vote-ban unless it is obvious they only intend to RDM or if they Mass RDMed.** If the RDMer sees that they have a vote-ban on them, they may just leave before the vote goes through.Trusted:- Without the ability to force-kick or vote-ban the best that can be done is vote-kick and hope it goes through. If the server is not having any luck, it wouldn't hurt to try asking someone who has higher powers than Trusted to join in and help. If that fails, then you're shit out of luck. But this situation is highly unlikely. ~Mass RDM~ -- 3 or more RDMs- If a NEW member mass RDMs, this should result in an immediate perma-ban no matter what. - Unlikely, but if a REGULAR user decides to Mass RDM, the member should be banned for up to 24 hours and then reported on the forums if there are no admins available. Then leave administration to take care of the rest. ~Ghosting~- Ghosting will only be likely found when NEW users come into the server. Usually coming in at the same exact time; they should be perma-banned if given enough evidence that they are in fact, Ghosting.- If a REGULAR user decides to Ghost, they should be banned for up to 24 hours IF they can be absolutely proven that they are in fact Ghosting. At which point, they should also be reported on the forums if there are no Admins available. ~Hacking~- If it isn't obvious already, ANY user hacking should be perma-banned immediately. In the case that a REGULAR user is hacking* they too should be perma-banned and reported on the forums until further notice from the Admins.*The most common hack would be an Aimbot. It is also the easiest one to point out. An Aimbotter can be pointed out if you see them sporadically turning unnaturally, and popping off head shots non-stop. Or if you're spectating them in first-person and notice them getting head shots when the crosshair isn't even remotely close to the targets' body.
~ I figure I might as well use this thread to also send a message to a select few of you. Banning members is NOT race or a competition, so stop treating it as such. As for Respected, just because you have the option to vote-ban doesn't always mean it's the best decision. If you read this enormous post I made, you should understand why.

There are a few other things that I would like to point out, that Blackety didn't mention in the above, and rather well laid-out post.
If /anyone/ at all is being disrespectful, racist, sexist, etc., they will receive a gag/gimp. Not a kick/ban. The duration of this gag/gimp will last until the user has agreed to either calm down, grow up, or both.
This typically leads into the person Mass RDM'ing, which will be handled as stated in the above post. Do not kick/ban someone for being retarded in the chat.
Also, ninjawolf, it is not up to the people the RDM'er killed to decide his punishment. It is up to whoever has the highest authority. Too many times have I seen people ban someone just because the person RDM'd them on their T round. RDM happens. Stop raging, get over it, and enjoy the game. For all you know, the person mistook you for someone he knew was a T, or maybe you weren't as stealthy as you thought when you knifed that other guy in the corner. I've even seen a moderator, not on this server, perma-ban someone "for RDM'ing," in the middle of the round, when in fact this person had picked up the DNA scanner of the dead detective, without telling anyone, and went off to kill the T responsible. The moderator was angry, and the user was banned permanently. Granted, this moderator is no longer a moderator on that server, for that and a few other things, but I do not wish for this to happen on our server. When you get RDM'd: Do. Not. Rage. Calmly tell whoever has the most power that you think the person RDM'd you. At the END of the round, that higher power will speak with the defendant, and will see why he killed you. If it was RDM, then he will be slain. If the user had good reason to kill you, or it was a mistake/accident (I.E. he was damaged by a thrown prop, and you're the only one around, and he kills you for T-baiting/prop-killing), then there will be no action taken. If he RDM'd, and accepts the slay, then DO NOT start antagonizing the person. He was mature enough to accept the slay and remain on the server, it's your turn to be mature. If you do begin laughing at him or any other form of antagonizing behaviour, you will receive a slay the following round. If it was an accident or for good cause, on the other hand, and the person is not slain, do not complain about it or try to "RDM revenge." You will receive a slay.
Above all, I hold all of the regular users to a higher standard than newer players. If you cannot be mature, even as a Moderator or higher, then you will lose the trust of the higher ups. You do not want that.

The duration of this gag/gimp will last until the user has agreed to either calm down, grow up, or both. I was aware of this, but I purposely made the post leaving out gag/mute and kept it only for those who require a kick or ban. I left out situations that require a gag/mute because most of the time, people use their common sense to realize when someone deserves a gag or a mute. On the other hand, there has been lots of confusion with people when it came down to someone getting kicked or banned. Mainly when there wasn't a Mod or Admin online.
