When we had the skins in the shop less and less rdmers got on very few were patient. But since Leiton got rid of them the rdmers have come to an all time high and I really don't want to keep on reporting people because it wastes my time to play so if we can get a petition to bring back the skins I think we will all gladly agree that we need them. I know people will say what about new players and I say if they want to be on the server they will wait the time.

Yes I must say, that immediately after the skins were removed, we have become a prime target for RDMers and Ghosters. The moment I see someone join in with 1000 karma (signifying that they are new), I can't help but think that they might be RDMers. We have had groups of people come in at the same time and they happened to be friends and sure enough, they begin ghosting. Plus, whenever a new member joins and starts shooting at me, I actually have to think that they might be rdming rather than be a traitor and leaves me to the end result of killing them in defense, yet they are in fact an inno.
I still think that my suggestion should be put into play. Add the Trusted and VIP tiers back and add 3 more skins back into the server. One for each tier and mix the hats and stuff up a bit too. As far as the first tier goes, just add only HL2 skins in there. That way it won't take too long for people to download (but maybe just long enough to make a RDMers impatient) and since everyone already has HL2 skins, the point shop will retain it's plentiful amount of skins and keep it from taking forever to join the server.
@leiton - Celtics told me that VIPs are suppose to get vote-ban soon. I really hope this is true. WE NEED IT D:

When we first received complaints about the point shop we told people to deal with it. After tons of complaints we decided to remove it, we cautioned that removing it for faster download speeds would increase rdmers on the server. The people complaining did not care of the results. At this point you have to deal with it or as a community to add the skins back. The admins will stay out of this one until the community decides but we will remain to go on the server and ban more people. But I also must caution that banning more people gets stressful for mods and admins because they don't get to play the game and they have to do the same thing over and over again.

At this point you have to deal with it or as a community to add the skins back. It's a bit frustrating to rely on the rest of the community on an important decision considering that not many people are even using the forum let alone are registered. If it means anything, I have brought up my suggestion in-game more than once with people to get their opinions on it and those who have listened agreed that, that's what we should do. We aren't looking for a ban hammer type solution. We are looking for a prevention against the possibility of RDMers joining. In the days of TTT now, almost every server has a point shop loading with different things causing it to take a while to download. Servers that are the closest to vanilla get "attacked" the most by RDMers and Ghosters so they can 'get in and out' and accomplish what they were intending for in the first place without waiting too long. So at this rate, we will have no other choice to continue with the ban hammer. And, I understand that it can be a pain in the ass to constantly ban people, but think about how annoying it is when there are no mods or admins on.. The REST of the community has to rely on vote-kicks and the best we can do is kick them the moment the round starts so they aren't able to participate that round, but they come back anyway resulting in us wasting our time with a vote-kick every round. I would MUCH rather just be able to ban and I wouldn't ever look at it as a nuisance or a waste of time because it would be supporting our community. I hope I made the situation at hand clear enough that something needs to change asap rather than wait for a community made decision when more than half of the community won't even register on the forums. Hell, we only got 3 votes on the poll for the removal of the PS.

I will be the first to admit that my cost-benefit analysis of the skin situation was not very well thought through. The one vote for yes on the !motd is mine, and if I could change it to no, I most certainly would. We all moved from CPT server as it was in its final days because of the community and the game we all enjoy playing together. The enjoyment which can be had on our server when we play is quite high, and was so for the first week and a half after the server got its start. The skins, while to some, bothersome, and a prime excuse for their "suckiness" did add a new element to the server and the tier system set up by Leiton et al. was quite innovative in how it worked. Some of the members of this community, including me (who had just moved home from college and is having to deal with terrible internet and because of this terrible download speeds) said that the skins make the server less appealing to players because the download times on a less-than-average connection would take some time. It is this that led us to not notice the fact that within the week that the skin system was in place the server had not seen very many rdmers and ghosters at all in comparison to CPT and more importantly the last few days. Since the skins have been removed the number of rdming and ghosting cases have increased EXPONENTIALLY from the very first day. Everyone has noticed this and it has made gameplay less enjoyable to all of the members of the community because normally there is not an admin or moderator on at peak rdming time ( 3-6 PM EST). Either more members who are trusted within the community are given access to appropriate powers or a system such as Blackety has proposed is enacted or the quality of gameplay will continually spiral downward to the dark pit of hell (where the JIF Hazelnut Spread (aka FAKE ASS MOTHER FUCKING NUTELLA) is made) due to pre-pubescent rdming kids. As Blackety has pointed out, any server that you join today will have a download time as most servers have point shops now with custom bits and bobs for the players and our server having the same will not only serve to protect our server against the Nutella Hating Rdmers of the world but make our server comparable to the other major servers in the world of Trouble in Terrorist Town. In summation, I believe the community was very near sighted when complaining about download times due to the point shop skins and they (myself included) failed to do a proper cost-benefit analysis and we are now seeing the consequences of our shortsightedness in making a rash decision. Like the great and honorable band Counting Crows once said (before a lot of y'all were born) "you don't know what you got till its gone," I herebye stand by the reenactment of skins to the point shop for the betterment of mankind and THE GREAT nutella loving ANARCHISTS. (Sorry for the college thesis paper, but it needed to be said. )

EJ, I have to say I'm quite impressed with your thesis. A+ to you, my wonderful waifu~
As for the skins. There is actually only one member left of the community that strongly dislikes the customization I was putting into the server, which would somehow make it "just like any other TTT server." I personally found this statement to be abhorrently ignorant, but I took his opinion, and others who agreed with him, and gave the server what they wanted. I warned everyone about the RDM'ers, and how much the flow would change, but I was still given comment after snarky comment about the skins.
My solution is still delayed, seeing as there are still those who don't want the pointshop to be customized. However, here is my solution, which is actually very simple and shouldn't cause too many problems. There are quite a few models that nobody ever used. The Skeleton Army, Mileena, Lara Croft, Rorschach, and... whatever that girl from Batman's name was. These skins, unless purchased or requested for by the masses, will not be re-added to the server. The tiers, however, will remain the same. VIP's will lose the Rorschach models, Trusted lose the female model from Batman whose name escapes me, and Donators lose three models. Yes, I do realize that this lowers the options of what Donators can purchase, but it saves space and apparently priceless download time.
Also, other smaller things that do not take as much time, such as maps, weapons, displays, etc., can and will be added given the opportunity. Unfortunately there is one current flaw with the donation system currently in use: I cannot use the donation money for external means, such as hiring a coder to make something custom that the server would like. I do not have the money to pay hundreds of dollars on coders to customize the server for us. I would love to, but I can not. For the moment, we don't really need a coder, since there haven't been any suggestions relating to making our server more customized and community-friendly. I try with what I know, but I simply do not know enough about Lua coding to create completely custom things for the server, as much as I would like to.
Anyways, again, until I have full support from the regulars of this community to put back some (but not all, as stated above) of the skins, I will not be adding back any at all.

Leiton I say you should bring back the skins and other hats but NOT ALOT they were complaining about the QUANTITY that we had that was slowing the server so i would suggest 4 or 5 skins 3 for the "noobs"(1000 karma newbies) 2 for the trusted and please bring back the teir 1 trusted list so people cant look exactly like another and get the innocent person in trouble or worse banned i would hate to see that and we need higher priced object in the point shop i know at-least 10 people with over 20,000 point myself i have almost 50,000 points RDMers will be RDMers unless highly dealt with or highly controlled So I hope you will take my advice it would please me to no end if this were to happen i thank you and bid you good evening. -NinjaWolfShotz signing off ps the female from bat man is Harley Quinn

....and other hats but NOT ALOT they were complaining about..... hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/04/alot-is-better-than-you-at-everything.html*Ahem* This is more or less pretty much what I was suggesting. As far as adding a few extra skins to add uniqueness again, but the current issue still stands. -- We still have some members who are against the point shop all together. From what I've heard from another member in-game, we as a community apparently have to convince these two or more people to "OK" the return on the point shop. That's something I heard through the grapevine; don't know if it's entirely true. Also, no one is going to get banned or "in trouble" because they share the same skin. If/when we get skins back, I still feel strongly about adding HL2 skins for the first tier, since it won't damper on download time and we will still maintain a bountiful amount of skins.
